VOLKSWAGEN SA OPENS PRE-ORDERS FOR THE NEW TAYRON SUV

Volkswagen’s newest premium SUV is ready to make its mark - the all-new Tayron is now available for pre-order, bringing style, space, and cutting-edge tech to South African roads. Positioned between the Tiguan and the flagship Touareg, the Tayron combines seven-seat practicality with sharp, modern design and a cabin dripping in premium detail. Whether it’s the city commute or a weekend escape, the Tayron is built to make every drive feel first-class. Measuring 4.79 metres bumper to bumper, the Tayron has some commanding presence. Its large SUV proportions are paired with signature lighting; LED headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge at the front, mirrored at the rear with a full-width LED light bar. Deep character lines run down the flanks, hinting at capability and refinement in equal measure. Inside, premium touches are everywhere, from ArtVelours Eco microfibre to ambient lighting built into the dash and door panels. Every surface feels considered, every control - exactly where you want it.

Three Styles. One Dynamic Drive.

Tayron (Base) – Available as a 5-seater, the entry model is anything but barebones: Eco LED headlights, Park Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist, Lane Keep Assist, 12.9-inch infotainment screen, and 18-inch Bologna alloys come standard.

Tayron Life – Adds serious comfort and tech: nine airbags, three-zone climate control, wireless App-Connect, digital instruments, 32cm infotainment display, Light Assist automatic high beam, illuminated badges, 3D LED taillights, and 10-colour background lighting with customisable “Atmospheres” to set your mood.

Tayron R-Line – The sportiest take: R-design bumpers, LED Plus headlights, Varenna leather with R-Line embossing, ErgoActive massage seats, heated fronts, 30-colour ambient lighting, R-Line exterior/interior trim, and 19-inch Coventry alloys.

Every Tayron that’s headed to South Africa is powered by Volkswagen’s 1.4 TSI engine producing 110 kW and 250 Nm, paired with a smooth 7-speed DSG transmission. Torque is available from just 1,500 rpm, making it as easy to handle in traffic as it is relaxed on the open road - while being rather fuel efficient.

Pre-orders are officially open at Volkswagen dealers nationwide. Y’all can choose between the Tayron, Tayron Life, or Tayron R-Line and be among the first to own one of these on local shores. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date. Overseas, the Tayron can be had in eHybrid guise, an electric car and petrol-powered SUV in one with 150 kW. There’s also the eTSI using kinetic energy. With a petrol-powered lump with a 110 kW mild hybrid with a 48 V belt-driven starter-alternator and Active Cylinder Management (ACTplus). And then there’s also the TDI variant with a 2.0-litre capacity. The TDI packs 142 kW and 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. There’s no word if these models will make their way to local shores, though.
