PORSCHE RELEASES THE HOCKENHEIMRING EDITION TAYCAN GTS

This here SXdrv writer is a fan of Porsche, all things Porsche. From the most analogue of classics through to the latest options packed with technology that sees class-leading models heading to dealerships around the world. When the industry started looking towards battery-powered options, the electric vehicles from the Porsche side of the world had to easily be some of the best-looking available, and the performance on board equally mind-blowing. So good in fact that creating a limited edition model centred around the car’s performance, and so Porsche has just released the exclusive Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition. This is the automaker’s first limited edition electric sports car, and what better way to commemorate it than having it coincide with the 90th anniversary of the Hockenheimring.

The Hockenheimring, or if we’re being formal -  The Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg was established 90 years ago, which if your maths sucks was in way back in 1932 which is, as the name suggests near Hockenheim town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The track and its facilities are world-class and it even has full FIA Grade 1 status which means it’s capable of hosting a full-blown Formula 1 race. The racetrack is also home to Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) Hockenheimring and so prospective owners of this Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition also receive VIP status at the racetrack that affords them two years worth of free charging when visiting the racetrack as well as handy preferential parking during the monthly PEC ‘Frühschicht’ events, which is a gathering of Porsche enthusiasts. Of course, being able to attend these events in a limited edition car will ensure popularity levels rise too.
So to make this Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition stand out as a special edition, it needed some bespoke additions to all areas of the electric car. Firstly, thanks to Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, custom paint was created for the limited Taycan and it goes by the name of Stone Grey. To make this all-new shade pop, accents on the body can be found in complementing Bronzite accents that look just right, especially on those 21-inch Mission E Design wheels.  The hub cap is also painted in the satin Bronzite paint and features a coloured Porsche crest, while the brake calipers are found in a high-gloss black. Other Bronzite accents include the SportDesign sill trim, the rear diffuser and the ‘Taycan GTS’ on the tailgate. We also find a plaque with an embossed anniversary logo. In the cabin there are also bespoke details, like the Island Green stitching and Paldao wood trim. The ‘90 Jahre Hockenheimring’ anniversary logo can be found in key locations around the cabin.

This limited edition Taycan GTS is available with up to 440 kW of power that still affords well over 400 km of range. “With this exclusive special edition, we are not only delighting fans of our all-electric sports car, but also highlighting our attachment to the Hockenheimring," says Alexander Pollich, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Deutschland GmbH. “We congratulate the legendary racetrack on a rich, 90-year history. With the Porsche Experience Centre there, the Hockenheimring has become even more of a home for our brand since 2019." During the anniversary year, a Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition will be on display as a show car at the Hockenheimring.
