THE LAMBORGHINI REVUELTO IS AN ENGINEERING MASTERPIECE - HERE'S HOW IT'S MADE.
“The Revuelto is adrenaline made visible,” says Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini Head of Design. “The design of the new Lamborghini Revuelto opens a fascinating door towards the future of our unique design language. From first sight, Revuelto is an intriguing next-generation Lamborghini V12, with all lines embracing the monocoque and celebrating a free view towards the V12 HPEV powertrain. The unique and recognizable Y-shape light signature is significant in this new era of our most iconic flagship car, and the interior is a dramatic leap forward in defining the new design direction of Lamborghini. Our philosophy of "feel like a pilot" is vivid and visible in every detail: the driver and passenger are deeply integrated in the very lightweight Y-shape design of the dashboard and centre console, replicating the sensations of being in a race car but with a perfect intuitive balance between digital and physical controls.” The car is an engineering marvel, over and above the typical Lamborghini styling, there’s that new hybrid powertrain that looks set to change the way the Italian automaker manufactures powerplants looking towards the future. The L545 engine in the Revuelto is a 6.5-litre V12 that weighs just 218 kg and is rated to produce a whopping 589 kW (814 hp) with 725 Nm of torque. Lamborghini says this is good enough to propel the supercar from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds with a top speed over 350 km/h. The magic comes in with three electric motors, one integrated into the transmission and two up front, and they take the total power output to 736 kW (1 001 hp). “The new Revuelto is a milestone in the history of Lamborghini, and an important pillar in our Direzione Cor Tauri electrification strategy,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. “It is a unique and innovative car but at the same time faithful to our DNA: the V12 is an iconic symbol of our super sports heritage and history. Revuelto was born to break the mould, combining a new 12-cylinder engine with hybrid technology, creating the perfect balance between delivering the emotion that our clients want with the necessity to reduce emissions.”
To see more of what goes into the creation of this all-new Lamborghini, Ranieri Niccoli, Lamborghini's Chief Manufacturing Officer, and some of his team take us behind the scenes of the Revuelto project. “To produce the Revuelto, we understood that we had to go above and beyond,” commented Niccoli. “The Revuelto is a hybrid car combining the most innovative technical solutions, yet built using traditional skills while allowing maximum personalisation by the customer. We raised the bar to produce it, creating what we call “Manifattura Lamborghini Next Level”: a production system with people always at its core but which we have adapted to a much more complex product and to processes we haven’t used before. With the introduction of the Revuelto, we expanded the area occupied by the company by 172,000 square meters, investing €150 million here in Sant’Agata Bolognese.” The video shows a few different parts of the manufacturing process so that viewers get a better idea of how complicated the process is, and might give a little insight into why these cars are so expensive. Sure, the process is similar for more affordable cars, but we haven’t seen anyone clammering to watch how a Polo Vivo is put together. This video is the second in a 3-part series, so when you head to YouTube, look for the first one and then keep an eye out for the 3rd - we’ll be doing that too. The first units of the new Revuelto will be delivered to customers in the fourth quarter of 2023.
