VIDEO: MERCEDES-BENZ F 015 – THE FUTURISTIC TAXI

Alright, in all honesty, this is probably one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen from any manufacturer worldwide. The Autonomous F 015 from Mercedes-Benz.

“Anyone who focuses solely on the technology has not yet grasped how autonomous driving will change our society” and, while Dr Dieter Zetsche (head of Merc) is 100% correct, did he by any chance happen to realise the car would be more appealing to the human race if it didn’t look like a mechanical blood sucking leech? Alright, let's stop being biased, let's look at the pros of this futuristic auto driving mobile.

The Merc F 015 does, however, raise comfort and luxury to a new level by offering a maximum space lounge characteristic on the inside, as the lounge chairs are configured in a  face-to-face arrangement.

The passengers in a self-driving car can use their newly gained free time while travelling for relaxing or working as they please. The F 015 has warm and organic materials such as open-pore walnut wood and soft ice-white Nappa leather with defined metal and glass surfaces. The core theme of the interior has 6 displays installed all around the vehicle, passengers are enabled to interact intuitively with the vehicle by means of gestures or touching the high-resolution screens, and what is also notably different about this car is that the two side doors both open outward, making it easy for passengers to get in and out easily. Basically, this is what you would call a glorified taxi.

This electric hybrid system has a total range of 1,100 km, including 200 km of battery power and around 900 km on the electricity from the fuel cell. This enables the F 105 to cover distances similar to those of diesel-engined cars – but purely on electric power with zero local emissions.
