Lotus has broken into hypercar territory and they did it by sticking to their roots, namely light small cars with amazing handling. The 3.5-liter V6 in the Lotus 3-Eleven makes 450 horsepower, which was evidently enough to upset the Porsche 918 Spyder’s time of 1:06.3 seconds at the Hockenheim race track in Germany. The 3-Eleven did it in a tenth of a second less, which isn’t much, but a win is a win. This comes after Lotus driver Marc Basseng predicted that the 3-Eleven would beat a 918 around the Nurburgring.
