ARE AFTERMARKET BUCKET SEATS REALLY WORTH IT?
So, the time has come to get your car noticed, and when you park it at the meet and see those bucket seats shining through the windshield, people will know you mean business! Or perhaps you are actually installing them for practical reasons as you don't want to be thrown around in the cabin when you're pulling those mad skids on the drift track! Whatever your reason, are aftermarket bucket seats actually worth it?
First of all, you have to understand that there is a lot more to this mod than just buying two seats, bolting them in and away you go.
First of all, there are many types and configurations to choose from. There are those that recline, some that still allow you to make use of your factory safety belt and others that offer creature comforts such as heating.
Then, you need to be aware that not all bolt patterns are the same. You'll therefore have to find the right baseplate that fits your exact car so you can actually install them, plus still adjust it back and forth.
You'll also have to know that most bucket seats are designed to be used with a racing harness, which usually connects to a roll cage! Plus, your seating position might be much lower than you are used to. This could also mean that your steering wheel could be far from where you are used to having it, and might even need to be replaced with a new wheel and wheel hub to bring it closer to you.
So, at this point, you might think that it is a huge mod to do to your car, and that is true for sure! If it's purely for aesthetics, then really think hard about your choice because it could end up being a whole series of mods in order to get it done properly. And they won't be as comfortable as the stock seats. But, yeah, it will look sick as hell!
