ARE MODERN CAR COMPUTERS ACTUALLY CAUSING MORE ACCIDENTS?

First of all, it goes without saying that cars today are far safer than they have ever been at any other point in time and for good reason as well, however, in modern cars with all these new fancy driver assists and computers, could it be that they are actually causing more accidents unintentionally?

Modern cars use what we call Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS for short, which are designed to help improve car safety overall, and these systems include but are not limited to lane assist, steering assist and braking assist.

But a lot of people seem to be turning these systems off as they find them interfering with their driving style and quite frankly feel unsafe using them. But could this be a sign that they can potentially cause more damage than safety?

In the United States, there is a government survey happening whereby insurance companies and manufacturers have to by law report on what driver assists were active at the time of an accident in order to distinguish whether or not driver assists can potentially be causing accidents.
