AUDI CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF THE V10 WITH THE R8 DECENNIUM
It's been 10 years of the V10 powered R8 and, in celebration, Audi has revealed the limited edition R8 Decennium.
Decennium means decade in Latin, so it makes sense that Audi's new limited edition R8 bears the name as they celebrate 10 years of V10 power. There will be just 222 special edition coupe's made, featuring bespoke design tweaks over and above the new facelift for that extra exclusivity.
There are five colours available including silver, black, blue, metallic grey and the matte ‘Daytona Gray’ you see in the gallery above. Exclusive 20-inch wheels are the most obvious of the matte bronze highlights scattered throughout, including on the V10’s intake manifold, while gloss-black finishes on the front splitter, side gills, diffuser and exterior badges add some contrast, as does the carbon fibre side blades and mirror caps.
The interior receives similar treatment, with copper-coloured stitching used to contrast the mainly-black cabin. Alcantara covers the gear selector, steering wheel and armrests while liberal use of carbon fibre completes the finishes. There are a matte ‘Decennium’ logo and individual vehicle number on the gloss carbon centre console and the doors, the door sills and in the puddle light projection.
The superb 5.2-litre, naturally aspirated V10 is pulled directly from the V10 Plus, so figures remain the same; 610bhp, a 0 to 62mph dash in just 3.1sec, and a top speed of 206mph. Pretty impressive for a powerplant that has remained turbo- and hybrid-free over the past 10 years.
Prices for the limited edition Audi R8 Decennium will start at approximately £190,000 and, while there may be many extra that push the price up, all these specials will receive a 'Decennium' logo embroidered car cover for free. Sounds like a bargain!
