BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE GREATEST HOLLYWOOD HIGHWAY CAR CHASE
Here we take you behind the scenes of one of the greatest highway car chases scenes to ever come out of a Hollywood movie.
Now, a highway chase car scene is nothing new when it comes to modern Hollywood movies, but the one highway chase scene from The Matrix Reloaded is still recognised as one of the best attempts captured on camera, even when compared to action movies in 2020.
The Matrix film trilogy is known for rewriting the rulebook for special effects in cinema and was well ahead of their time, with a lot of special effects for the majority of their intricate scenes that were filmed mostly in studio.
You know you're off to a great start when the opening scene of The Matrix Reloaded is made from a superbike, a hot girl in black leather tights, and explosions! But, that is nothing in comparison to what happens further along in the film, with one of the most memorable scenes ever. It is, in fact, that famous highway car chase scene, with all of the actors engaged in battle, and vehicles flying everywhere.
The set of the highway was created especially for the scene, the largest ever built, by the way, and it took a full year to prepare. It included hundreds of vehicles and many of the actors went for specdial drivers training. The most incredible part must surely be that Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays Trinity, actually rode the Ducati herself, even though she'd never ridden on a bike before the film. There was so much attention to detail in that one scene that you probably didn't even notice that Samsung actually made a limited edition cellphone that was shown once in that scene then never again, which you can check out here.
