BENTLEY UNVEILS ITS MONSTROUS 3-DOOR, 3-SEATER EXP 15 CONCEPT AT MONTEREY CAR WEEK
Bentley used one of the most exclusive automotive stages in the world to unveil its latest design vision, the EXP 15, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week. While not intended for production, the concept grand tourer offers a mad preview of Bentley’s evolving design language, particularly as they prepares for its first fully electric car. EXP 15 is a massive thing that they say blends futurism with Bentley’s heritage. Its iconic upright grille, endless bonnet line, and rearward-set cabin echo the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman Coupé - better known as the legendary “Blue Train” Bentley. That car cemented Bentley’s reputation for speed and endurance when it famously outran the luxury Blue Train express across France in the 1930s. Sorta like the OG Top Gear challenge. Like its ancestor, the EXP 15 features three-seat luxury and even integrates innovative storage solutions for both treasured pets and hand luggage.
The concept embodies five core design principles that will guide Bentley’s future models:
Upright Elegance – a front fender profile that exudes stature.
Iconic Grille – a modernised interpretation of Bentley’s signature face.
Endless Bonnet Line – referencing the marque’s most revered grand tourers.
Resting Beast – a stance that conveys muscular potential even at rest.
Prestigious Shield – the rear framed by a bold reimagining of the Winged B emblem.
“Monterey Car Week is a gathering of the world’s most discerning enthusiasts and collectors, many of whom are Bentley owners themselves,” said Robin Page, Bentley’s Director of Design. “The EXP 15 is a bold statement of intent, and debuting it in California sunshine allowed us to gauge invaluable feedback from an audience that lives and breathes automotive passion.” To further connect past and future, Bentley reunited the EXP 15 with the original Speed Six “Blue Train” Special along the legendary 17-Mile Drive - a stretch of coast that has become as synonymous with Car Week as the concours lawns of Pebble Beach itself.
For the uninitiated, Monterey Car Week is not just an event but a pilgrimage for the automotive elite. What began in 1950 with the Pebble Beach Concours has evolved into a week-long celebration where concept cars, rare classics, and world-record auctions collide. It’s where automakers reveal their boldest ideas, where collectors chase multimillion-dollar icons under the hammer, and where enthusiasts can see everything from pre-war racers to bleeding-edge hypercars in one place.
It’s here, amid the manicured lawns, coastal drives, and exclusive gatherings, that brands like Bentley can test reactions to design visions like EXP 15 before committing elements to production. The fact that the EXP 15 shared tarmac and turf with the greatest machines in automotive history only underscores its significance as Bentley eyes an electrified future.
After its Monterey debut, the EXP 15 returns to Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, where it will continue shaping the DNA of the marque’s next generation of grand tourers - luxurious, sustainable, and unmistakably Bentley.
