This inspirational blind mechanic gets to live out his dream by driving for the first time.
Bart Hickey has been a professional car mechanic for over three decades, he is a true petrolhead and loves to work on cars, hear the engines come to life and roar, sit in the driver's seat, and feel the interior. His greatest challenge in life, though, is being blind from birth, but that hasn't stopped him one bit from pursuing what makes him happy.
Bart Hickey's son, Brendan, looks up to his father as his life's inspiration and supports his father's passion to the fullest. However, Bart's biggest dream is to get behind the wheel, drive and test out what it's like to put the pedal to the metal, but due to his blindness he has never gotten the opportunity to do so.
His son, Brendan, teamed up with Mercedes Benz to make his fathers dream a reality. Together, they organised a Mercedes-AMG GT R on a saltpan, where his father would be able to experience performance driving safely.
