The new Speed Series is all about buildable, customisable car culture, kicking things off with two Japanese icons that need no introduction: the ’07 Honda S2000 and the ’90 Honda Civic EF. Scaled at 1:32, these sets are built to be displayed, rebuilt, and personalised, not just snapped together once and forgotten. An awesome addition to the range is the ’07 Honda S2000 - a true Japanese legend - high-revving, rear-wheel drive, and an all-time great badge. The S2000 gets the full Brick Shop treatment, arriving as a fully buildable 1:32-scale model packed with realistic details.
Opening doors, an authentic windshield and spoiler, plus a level of shaping that actually captures the S2000’s compact, muscular stance. Customisation is the real hook, though. You get a full decal sheet and two sets of wheel covers, letting you dial the look from showroom fresh to weekend track toy. And then there’s the bonus. Each set includes an exclusive matching 1:64 metal car, plus a metal signature plate, a first for Mattel Brick Shop sets. It’s the kind of extra that collectors will quietly obsess over.
Also added to the new wicked range of buildable cars is the custom ’90 Honda Civic EF - Peak ’90s cool. Before laptops and launch control, there was the EF Civic. Light, simple, endlessly modifiable. Mattel Brick Shop clearly gets the brief. The Custom ’90 Civic EF arrives as a fully buildable 1:32-scale model with opening doors, authentic window pieces, and detailed headlights that give it real presence on the shelf. As with the S2000, custom decals and two wheel cover options let builders put their own stamp on it. Again, you get the exclusive 1:64 metal Civic and metal signature plate, turning what could’ve been a simple brick set into something that feels genuinely collectable.
Both models are fully compatible with Mattel Brick Shop parts and other major building brands, meaning the modding doesn’t stop when the instructions do. Wider stance? New colourway? Full Frankenstein build? Go for it. We’d love to collect all the cars in the Speed Series, stack the metal minis, and build out our own brick-built garage.
