TOYOTA GAZOO RACING TURNS ROADS INTO LEGENDS IN 2026 PROMO VID.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is lifting the curtain on its latest GR brand film, WILD ROAD, that premiered on the TGR YouTube channel on January 1, 2026. More than a highlight reel, the new video is a visual curriculum vitae, capturing the philosophy that has shaped GR from its earliest days: roads make cars, and motorsport makes them better. The story of GR begins long before the badge appeared on production cars. Its roots trace back to Team GAZOO, founded in 2007 by Toyota Master Driver Hiromu Naruse alongside Akio Toyoda, now Chairman of the Board and known in motorsport circles as Master Driver Morizo. Built on the belief that people and machines are refined through competition, the team took on the Nürburgring 24 Hours, widely regarded as the most demanding endurance race in the world. That challenge became the proving ground for an idea that still defines GR today: lessons learned at the limit belong on the road.

Since the establishment of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing in 2015, that philosophy has been applied across the world’s toughest motorsport arenas. From the brutal precision of the FIA World Rally Championship to the strategic endurance of the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the unforgiving terrain of the Dakar Rally, TGR has used real competition to shape its road cars. Driver feedback, hard data and race-bred experience flow directly into production vehicle development, creating cars that carry genuine motorsport DNA.

WILD ROAD brings that mindset to life through an all-out, immersive driving experience. The film stars four of Toyota’s top-tier competition machines: the GR YARIS Rally1 from the WRC, the GR010 HYBRID from the WEC, the DKR GR Hilux bound for Dakar, and the new FIA GT3-targeted GR GT3. They’re joined by the GR GT, the brand’s flagship GR sports car, linking the extremes of motorsport directly to the road.

Production focused on capturing real speed in real environments, with cameras running alongside the cars at close quarters to convey the intensity from behind the wheel. Professional drivers took centre stage, with Takamoto Katsuta unleashing the GR YARIS Rally1, Kamui Kobayashi at the helm of the GR010 HYBRID, and Akira Miura piloting the DKR GR Hilux. Development drivers also played a key role, with Tatsuya Kataoka driving the GR GT3 and Hiroaki Ishiura behind the wheel of the GR GT, reinforcing the deep connection between racing and road car development.

For those wanting even more, an additional film titled WILD ROAD - BEHIND THE SCENES is available on the TGR YouTube channel, showcasing moments and driving heroics beyond the main cut. At its core, WILD ROAD is Toyota GAZOO Racing distilled. Raw speed, relentless development and the belief that every corner, crest and straight leaves a mark. Because at GR, the road isn’t just where cars are driven. It’s where they’re born
