LAMBORGHINI’S FEW-OFF LEGACY AND THE COLLECTOR WHO LIVES FOR IT.
For Lamborghini, the idea of the “few-off” isn’t just a business model - it’s a strand of DNA that’s shaped the brand’s most daring eras. It began in 2007 with the explosive debut of the Reventón, a car that didn’t just launch a new philosophy but set the tone for what would become a lineage of ultra-rare, technologically bold dream machines. Each one limited, each one futuristic, each one a preview of the design language and innovation that would later filter into Lamborghini’s mainstream icons. And at the centre of this story stands one man: Albert Spiess, a collector whose devotion to the brand has become nearly as legendary as the cars he owns. Since that first Reventón, Lamborghini has crafted six few-off series, often in both coupé and roadster form. The lineup reads like a greatest-hits album of modern automotive art:
• Reventón (2007) – stealth-jet attitude meets V12 theatre.
• Sesto Elemento (2010) – a carbon-fibre revolution weighing almost nothing and rewriting lightweight philosophy.
• Veneno (2013) – a road-legal spaceship created for Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary.
• Centenario (2017) – a tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini wrapped in sculptural aerodynamics.
• Sián (2019) – the very first Lamborghini hybrid, pairing electrification with raw V12 power.
• Countach LPI 800-4 (2021) – a modern love letter to the icon that started it all.
Each few-off model carried something unique - a concept, technology, or aesthetic experiment - that eventually influenced Lamborghini’s future production cars. These weren’t just limited editions; they were prototypes made real.
For Albert Spiess, the journey began long before the few-offs existed. His love affair with the brand sparked with a 1979 Countach LP400 S, the wedge-shaped thunderbolt that changed his life. As he puts it, it was a moment that shifted his priorities: fewer hours lost to work, more time dedicated to curating a world-class Lamborghini collection. From that first Countach, he added a Miura SV and a Silhouette, slowly shaping a garage that reads like a museum - but one built entirely on passion. Spiess isn’t just a buyer; he’s a connoisseur. He digs into each car’s history, hunts down rarities, and searches for the models that embody Lamborghini’s ambition. So when the few-off era arrived, it aligned perfectly with how he collected: purposefully, emotionally, and always with the pursuit of the extraordinary. Today, at least one example of every few-off ever produced sits proudly in his possession. He describes their addition with clear intent:
• Reventón Roadster - chosen for its fighter-jet design that shaped future V12 Lamborghinis.
• Sesto Elemento - his personal favourite, loved for its featherweight carbon construction and radical engineering.
• Veneno Roadster - a machine so extreme he calls it a “spaceship.”
• Centenario - bought simply because owning something so rare “felt electric.”
• Sián Roadster - its hybrid system marks the beginning of a new era.
• Countach LPI 800-4 - a tribute reborn, tied deeply to his own restoration of the original 1971 prototype with Lamborghini Polo Storico.
When asked what drives him to continue collecting, Spiess’s answer is beautifully simple. Despite all the engineering, the carbon fibre, the exclusivity, the history - it all comes down to a feeling. “Every time I buy a few-off Lamborghini, I feel exactly as I did the first time I bought my Countach.”
