MCLAREN 750S PROJECT VIVA: VEGAS LIGHTS, MONOCHROME NIGHTS MADE FOR AN AWESOME THEME!

As the world gears up for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has rolled the dice and revealed something truly special - Project Viva, a one-off McLaren 750S that reimagines the neon chaos of Vegas in pure monochrome form. Built to celebrate McLaren’s shared DNA with the city of spectacle - innovation, ambition, and performance - Project Viva is more than a custom commission; this awesome thing is an artistic statement, hand-painted and crafted by MSO to prove once again that imagination and craftsmanship still reign supreme in Woking. In a city defined by colour and excess, McLaren’s design team did the opposite - and that’s exactly what makes it so captivating. Instead of recreating the glow of The Strip through wild hues, Project Viva flips the Vegas vibe on its head, turning the city’s rhythm and motion into a “Sketch in Motion” hand-painted livery rendered entirely in monochrome. Every brushstroke represents something from the Las Vegas story: skyline silhouettes, the looping rhythm of music, performance, and light. The pattern isn’t random - it’s a visual heartbeat of Vegas, mapped out across the 750S’s bodywork and grounded in McLaren’s own racing and design heritage. It’s McLaren design philosophy distilled: always challenge convention, always find new meaning in motion. The finish on Project Viva isn’t just black and white - it’s layered, complex, and downright stunning. MSO used Muriwai White, a nod to McLaren’s heritage (the very colour that adorned Bruce McLaren’s family home shutters), paired with a new, bespoke shade called Vegas Nights.

That deep black tone is laced with subtle flecks of cyan, magenta, and green - a whisper of neon that catches the light like the glow of Fremont Street after dark. It’s not loud, but it shimmers with life. Each stroke, fade, and line was meticulously hand-applied by MSO’s artisans. And then came a finishing touch that made it truly one of one - McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri joined in, adding personal flourishes and hand-painted stars to commemorate McLaren’s tenth Constructors’ World Championship. Nine stars in white, and one in silver leaf, applied by the drivers themselves - a moment of racing history etched into paint.

“Project Viva captures what McLaren Special Operations is all about - pushing beyond convention to create something truly personal,” says Jonathan Simms, Director of MSO. “Every commission is a fusion of vision and skill, turning inspiration into something unique and meaningful.” It’s the perfect summary of what MSO does best - taking an emotion, a story, or even a place, and expressing it through design. Whether it’s a client’s passion project or a brand-led artistic vision, MSO turns inspiration into rolling art, and in Project Viva’s case, that art happens to hit 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
