DO WIDER WHEELS HURT YOUR PERFORMANCE?

Wider wheels are awesome! Or are they? Today we check out if wider wheels hurt performance.

In car culture today, the first thing car lovers do to their new ride is slap on a fresh set of rims and tyres that are usually larger and far wider than the factory setup.

This trend is also seen in automotive manufacturing as well, most modern cars come out the factory with OEM wheels that are wider than what they were let's say 20 years ago.

But, as awesome as wider wheels look, are they actually beneficial?

Well, wider wheels offer more grip because they have a larger contact area with the road. Wider wheels also improve acceleration and braking performance as well. But, on the other hand, more force is needed to reap these benefits as wider wheels are heavier.

So are they beneficial? Well, yes, provided your car has the optimal amount of power. You'll lose performance if your car is underpowered.
