HOW CAR COMMERCIALS LIE TO YOU

Car commercials, as spectacular as they are, are not always truthful. Here is how.

As much as we love cars, at the end of the day, they are still just a product that needs to be sold. The most common trend amongst automotive advertisers is depicting a car doing something they can't technically do, and many more. These include stating the fuel economy, which might be true in unrealistic perfect testing environments, and let's not forget mentioning the advertised monthly repayment cost, which is completely misleading as well.

Furthermore, the adverts themselves are usually nothing more than mostly computer generated graphics. Cars are incredibly difficult objects to light correctly, and to remove any possible reflections of cameras and any other possible set equipment and camera cars is impossible.

So, basically, you are in the market to buy a car, the manufacturers want to sell you a car, specifically, their car. They will do anything to ensure they make that sale, and some of their tactics and methods are questionable, to say the least!
