KOENIGSEGG'S SOLD ALL 80 REGERA'S THEY WILL EVER MAKE!
Don't we all want a Koenigsegg Regera? But unfortunately, you can't have one – even if you had all the money in the world – because they are all sold out!
The Swedish automaker announced earlier this week that is has pre-sold the production slots for each of the 80 Regera's it will make. After that, they will all be gone, though we won't be surprised to see some pop-up on the open market, with a reasonable markup price.
The Regera is Koenigsegg's first hybrid model, following more along the lines of the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and LaFerrari than the Toyota Prius or Chevy Volt, and with more power than any of them. The vehicle has a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a trio of electric motors and no transmission to speak of, that delivers a combined 1,500 horsepower for a 0-62 time quoted at 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 255 mph.
Each Regera started at about $1.9 million, so by selling al 80, Koenigsegg has generated over $1.5 billion in business. Only 25 examples of the RS will be made before the company retires the Agera line with the Final Edition presented at Geneva in this past March.
It will take the company a while to complete all 80 Regeras, by which time we can hopefully see what they have in store for us next!
