LIMITED EDITION JAGUAR F-PACE SVR EDITION COMMEMORATES A 1988 LE MANS WIN

When an automaker releases a special, limited edition car to celebrate the success of a single race that took place 34 years ago, you know that race was pretty significant. It is a bit strange doing a commemorative celebration at 34 years, things like this usually fall on 5s or 0s. Either way, what we now see here is the Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988. That last number signifies when the historic race win took place, and you may also think it could double as an indication of the number of cars that will be available to buyers and collectors around the world. The latter is a forgivable error, these bespoke, limited edition Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 models have been strictly limited in numbers to a total of 394, each opulent SUV receives special   Strictly limited: Just 394 examples will be built, one for each lap completed by the winning Jaguar at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988, the XJR-9 LM.

Jaguar’s F-Pace SVR has always been at the top of the model ladder, it’s the halo model in the brand’s SUV lineup and has no shortage of orders, but this is still the first time it’s been used as the base for a special edition. Having gone through the expert hands of the personalisation gurus at SV Bespoke things look a little different to the ‘regular’ SVR. There’s a new shade of paint that will only ever be seen on this limited edition model, it goes by the name of Midnight Amethyst, and when combined with the 22-inch Champagne Gold forged alloys and some tastefully added exclusive Sunset Gold Satin accents, things look very good indeed. There’s also a One of 394’ SV bespoke commissioning graphic added, just in case the paint and the wheels don’t quite convey the fact that this is a limited series opulent SUV.

Inside this limited edition F-Pace SVR, we find some great open-pore carbon fibre finishes with a semi-aniline Ebony leather upholstery that’s contrasted by exclusive Sunset Gold Satin detailing seen across the dash, steering wheel spokes, gear shift paddles and the heated-and-cooled front Performance Seats. The Jaguar leaper and horn ring on the steering wheel receive a Satin Black finish, while SV Bespoke & Edition 1988 branding features on the illuminated treadplates and dashboard to complete the details. These colours used were inspired by the iconic liveries of Jaguar Le Mans-winning cars from 1988.

The SVR is among the top echelons of the brand’s offerings, you can rest assured that there’s going to be plenty power on tap. The supercharged V8 that drives all the wheels churns out a healthy 550 hp and with the rest of the package being top-notch, the behemoth even handles well on track - and on track will also be where the SUV is when the world sees it first. The Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 is set to debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 8-12 and it then makes its dynamic debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June.
