MASERATI UNLEASHES THE MCPURA: A NEW STANDARD IN TRIDENT-BADGED SUPERCAR EXCELLENCE WITH ALL THE RIGHT CURVES!

Maserati has taken the wraps off its latest super sports car - the MCPURA - at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where the Italian brand reminded the world what happens when pure performance, design mastery, and Italian craftsmanship collide. Described as the purest expression of Maserati energy and performance yet, the MCPURA takes the MC20 blueprint and evolves it into something sharper, sleeker, and even more intensely focused. Powered by the 463 kW Nettuno V6, housed in a featherweight carbon-fibre monocoque, and offered in both coupé and Cielo (convertible) configurations, this is Maserati’s vision of supercar purity - refined, redefined, and fully unleashed. Built entirely at Maserati’s iconic Modena HQ, the MCPURA is a spiritual successor to the MC20 halo car that marked a turning point for the brand in 2020. While the core mechanicals remain, most notably that thrilling 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6, the MCPURA amps up the visual drama, material richness, and sensory appeal. The engine still delivers 463 kW at 7,500 rpm and 720 Nm from just 3,000 rpm, with a blistering power-to-weight ratio of 2.33 kg/CV, thanks to a total kerb weight under 1,500 kg. It’s a powertrain that blends Formula 1 tech, like the patented pre-chamber combustion system with twin spark plugs, with genuine everyday usability. The name MCPURA says it all: a play on “MC” (Maserati Corse) and the Italian word for pure, pura. It’s more than a badge - it’s a philosophy. The launch campaign’s tagline, E = MCPURA, cheekily nods to Einstein while signalling Maserati’s belief that energy, when channelled correctly, becomes a form of artistic expression.

That art is visible from every angle. The MCPURA debuted at Goodwood in Ai Aqua Rainbow, a dynamic, colour-shifting hue created through Maserati’s Fuoriserie customisation programme. Matte on the coupé and glossy on the Cielo, it’s inspired by the spectrum-bending behaviour of light through a prism, pure visual theatre. Complementing the dramatic paint are magenta Trident logos with blue mica, contrasting rim details, and a jewel-like finish repeated throughout the car. Inside, things are equally dialled in: laser-etched Alcantara seats in Ice, with iridescent backings that shimmer red and blue, echoing the paintwork and delivering futuristic flair without ditching Maserati’s signature elegance.

The MCPURA builds on the strengths of the MC20 and introduces a few new tricks:

Carbon-Fibre Monocoque Stiff, light, and purpose-built for precision.

Butterfly DoorsFor easier ingress and dramatic arrival.

Nettuno V6Maserati’s in-house, twin-turbo, 463 kW masterpiece.

PDLC Retractable Glass Roof (Cielo) – Transparent when you want the sky; opaque when you don’t. Transforms in a second. First in class.

And while the driving dynamics promise to be intense, the focus isn’t just on speed; it’s on delivering a multi-sensory experience. Roof up or down, transparent or tinted, the MCPURA Cielo adapts to the moment, making every journey feel tailor-made.

As Maserati COO Santo Ficili puts it: “With MCPURA, Maserati is once again regaining its rightful place: at the top and in its stomping ground.” Both coupé and Cielo models are handcrafted in Modena, where the Trident has pulsed since the brand’s beginning nearly 90 years ago. This is also where the Nettuno engine is built, the bodies are assembled, and customisation takes place via the Officine Fuoriserie, Maserati’s newly established bespoke studio. Later this year, the plant will also begin production of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, joining the GT2 Stradale and MCPURA to form a formidable range of Modena-bred performance machines.

Beyond Ai Aqua Rainbow, the MCPURA's colour palette expands Maserati’s creative arsenal. It includes bold new tones like:

Devil OrangeVivid, unapologetic, and born to turn heads.

Verde RoyaleDual-layer, deep green metallic with regal vibes.

Night InteractionA dark, luxurious tone that balances menace with mystique.

In total, Maserati now offers 30+ custom colour options, from solid and metallic to three- and four-layer finishes, in gloss or matte. If you can imagine it, Fuoriserie can probably make it.
