PORSCHE ENDS 911 DAKAR PRODUCTION WITH A SWEET HANDCRAFTED SONDERWUNSCH SPECIAL

After already producing 2,500 units, Porsche has marked the end of its off-the-beaten-trailblazing 911 Dakar model with a one-of-a-kind handover event at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. The final model, a bespoke Sonderwunsch edition no less, was commissioned by an Italian collector and the design shows Porsche’s dedication to creating truly unique sports cars. Originally introduced in November 2022, the 911 Dakar is designed for versatility, excelling on rugged terrains just as well as on country roads. It’s the coolest off-road supercar, and we’re sure it has reliability light years ahead of the Lamborghini Sterrato. Engineered for Adventure with a ground clearance 50 mm higher than the standard 911 Carrera, the 911 Dakar features rugged off-road touches, like red forged aluminium recovery eyelets, extended wheel arches, and protective sills. Under the hood is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six delivering 353 kW and 570 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds - even on gravel. The 911 Dakar maxes out at a speed of 240 km/h, deliberately limited for all-terrain tyre safety. A suite of advanced Porsche technology backs up this power: the 8-speed PDK, Porsche’s all-wheel-drive system, rear-axle steering, GT3 engine mounts, and PDCC anti-roll stabilization make the Dakar agile on virtually any surface. A roof-mounted 12-volt power outlet supports auxiliary lighting on the optional roof rack, which has a load capacity of up to 42 kg, making it ideal for adventure gear or even an optional rooftop tent. This practicality is paired with a serious performance edge, establishing the 911 Dakar as a unique high-performance off-roader.

The Sonderwunsch Treatment – A Tribute in Colour and Craftsmanship This farewell Sonderwunsch model takes personalization to the next level with a custom three-tone paint job inspired by the classic Rallye Design Package. The colours Signal Yellow and Gentian Blue Metallic echo the iconic 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally car, while a newly developed shade, Lampedusa Blue - named after the Mediterranean island - divides the two hues. The wheels feature Signal Yellow spokes and a Lampedusa Blue rim edge, all meticulously hand-painted through close collaboration between Porsche designers and the new owner. Details like the Lampedusa-colored accent ring in the LED Matrix headlights, blackened stainless steel protective elements, and interior yellow stitching against black trim further personalize this model. The custom touches continue with embroidered "911 Dakar" lettering in Speedyellow on the Sports Seats Plus headrests and a matching Speedyellow leather gear selector insert. When the doors open, LED projectors illuminate the Sonderwunsch logo on the ground - a final touch of bespoke craftsmanship. A Last Chance to See the Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar Before this unique 911 Dakar embarks on its journey to its new home, Porsche enthusiasts can view it on display in the foyer of the Porsche Museum, where it sits alongside other remarkable limited-edition models. This farewell Sonderwunsch creation embodies Porsche’s spirit of innovation, closing out the 911 Dakar’s production run with a pretty damn cool statement in both design and performance and bonkers car design.
