THE LIMITED-NUMBER TAG HEUER CARRERA CHRONOGRAPH TOURBILLON X PORSCHE PANAMERICANA IS THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE PAST WINS.

Porsche, a brand synonymous with motorsport excellence, pays homage to its legendary automotive heritage with yet another extraordinary creation: the one-off Porsche 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special. This exclusive vehicle celebrates the 70th anniversary of Porsche's historic participation in the original Carrera Panamericana Mexico race. As the crowning piece in a trilogy of special editions commemorating Porsche’s triumphs in this emblematic race, it draws inspiration from the iconic 550 Spyder and will be auctioned for charitable causes. In perfect harmony with this celebration, TAG Heuer introduces the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana, a limited-edition timepiece honouring the same legendary event. Unveiled by Porsche Latin America, the 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special commemorates the brand's most significant success during the 1954 Carrera Panamericana. Piloted by Hans Herrmann, the Porsche 550 Spyder secured a remarkable third place overall and dominated the Sport category for cars under 1500 cc. This victory not only elevated Porsche's global motorsport reputation but also sparked the legacy of the now iconic "Carrera" name, immortalized in Porsche’s future models. Using the lightweight and agile 718 Spyder RS as its foundation, this special edition recreates the spirit of the 550 Spyder, Porsche's first purpose-built race car that outclassed its rivals despite having a smaller engine. A team from Porsche Latin America, in collaboration with Exclusive Manufaktur experts in Germany, brought this vision to life, completing a trilogy of Sonderwunsch models that mark Porsche’s 70 years of success in the Carrera Panamericana.

The 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special stands out with its meticulous design cues that harken back to Porsche’s racing heritage. Key features include silver aerodynamic elements, magnesium wheels, high-gloss black ceramic brake calipers, Carmine Red stripes, and a yellow "55" on the doors—an homage to the victorious Porsche 550 Spyder. Other highlights include a TAG Heuer shield in Seal Grey, red taillights, and a Spyder RS Panamericana Special insignia. Inside, the car boasts Carmine Red leather bucket seats, a red leather steering wheel, and illuminated door sill protectors with the Sonderwunsch inscription and Mexican flag colours. A bespoke TAG Heuer watch mount, designed exclusively for this car, is integrated under the centre armrest—a unique touch to safely secure the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana timepiece. Limited to 255 numbered pieces, this timepiece reflects Porsche’s 1955 racing legacy and completes the perfect partnership between two iconic brands. The exceptional racing chronograph is not just a showcase of TAG Heuer’s sophisticated design and expertise in watchmaking - it’s a symbol of the Porsche partnership, a thoroughly modern creation that honours TAG Heuer and Porsche’s history of innovation while offering an assertive design. With the Porsche 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special, Porsche delivers a masterpiece that not only celebrates its storied racing past but also underscores its commitment to excellence and innovation and it gives Porsche aficionados something extra to try and add to their collections. "La Carrera Panamericana Mexico is much more than just a race for Porsche—it’s part of our DNA," said Tobias Eninger, CEO and President of Porsche Latin America. “The 911 Carrera and Panamera were named in honour of the events here 70 years ago. This trilogy of Sonderwunsch cars celebrates Mexico’s historic significance for Porsche—each one capturing a special moment in time that helped shape the brand’s iconic status."
