RED BULL NOW LEADING THE CHAMPIONSHIP AS MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS THE MONACO GRAND PRIX

This past weekend all eyes were on the Monaco Grand Prix which has a reputation of throwing a spanner into the mix with regards to wins, points and even championship standings and the last race weekend was no exception!

During the qualifying sessions which took place on Saturday the 22nd of May 2021, all the drivers gave it their very best but unfortunately the final qualifying session came to a red flag halt as Charles Leclerc crashed his Ferrari and the other drivers never got their final laps in which could have changed the starting position's outcome quite drastically. This lead to Charles Leclerc taking pole position but unfortunately, Ferrari couldn't fix the car in time for the race. Max Verstappen secured second place, followed by Valtteri Bottas in third place and the current world champion Lewis Hamilton all the way back in 7th place!

On the race day, Bottas suffered a technical difficulty during his pitstop with a stuck wheel nut which cost him the race in just a few seconds. This pushed Carlos Sainz up into second place and Lando Norris into third with Max Verstappen taking first place.

This past win for Max Verstappen is not only his 12th win in his career but the first time that he leads the Championship.

But the fight is by no means over as Max only leads with 4 points over Lewis Hamilton in the title.
