SEQUENTIAL TRANSMISSION – HOW IT WORKS
Have you ever wondered what sequential transmission is and how it works? Well, wonder no further!
Aside from a fully automatic transmission, most other car gearboxes make use of an "H" or "triple-H" gear pattern with the gear shifter. This simply means that you, as the driver, have full control and the ultimate decision as to what gear you should be in and when you want to change them.
An automatic gearbox, however, gives you little to no control over what gear you should be in and no decision as to when the gears need to be changed.
However, that's where a sequential gearbox comes into play. A sequential gearbox always changes gears in sequence, so there is no skipping from 4th to second gear without engaging third in the process, for example. However, you still have full control as to when those gears have to be changed.
