THE 2020 ALPINA B7 IS THE WORLD'S FASTEST SEDAN

The new BMW 7-Series is already pretty speedy but Alpina thought it could be faster – and the result is the 328km/h 2020 Alpina B7.

The BMW 7-Series is the driving man's executive saloon, some people claim, and the Bavarian flagship has never been found wanting for power. Alpine, however, are notorious for taking what is already great and making it even better.

The most notable feature of the 7 is that enormous kidney grille up front, but look past the nostrils and into the engine bay and you're greeted by BMW’s 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 – reworked to deliver 600hp and 800Nm of torque. Getting all that power to the ground is made easier with all-wheel drive and improves its all-weather ability too.

This power, Alpine says, will get the chunky 2020 B7 from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and then on to 205 mph (or 330 km/h) to claim the world's fastest sedan title from the Dodge Hellcat – by one mile per hour.

Alpine has given the bodywork a mild makeover, with a clean and sporty front bumper that helps take some of the focus away from those monstrous nostrils. The side skirts and rear bumper receive the same treatment with the exhaust tips integrated into the bumper, a set of classic Alpina style wheels and the splendid Alpina Green paint job complete the look.

Climb behind the wheel and you'll discover even more luxury than the 7-Series, with unique trim materials, contrast stitching on plusher leather and the Alpina badge that replaces BMW's propeller insignia on the steering wheel.

So, if you're looking for a sedan that is plusher than the Queen's bedroom and goes like the clappers, then look past that hairy kidney grille and give the 2020 Alpina B7 a go, it'll be well worth the 140 American dollars it costs.
