THE COMPLETELY MAD OPEL CORSA GSE VISION GRAN TURISMO HAS ARRIVED - IN DUAL REALITIES!

Opel has pulled the wraps off something very different at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich - the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, a concept that straddles two worlds: the show floor and the digital racetrack. Not only does it preview the future of Opel’s performance-oriented GSE sub-brand, but soon, anyone with a copy of Gran Turismo 7 will get to drive it flat-out, no invitation-only exclusivity required. Packing 588 kW (800 hp), 800 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 320 km/h, the Vision GT is engineered like a genuine small-car hyper-hatch, built on the STLA Small platform yet stripped down to weigh just 1,170 kg thanks to obsessive lightweighting. With dual 350 kW e-motors (one on each axle) and a torque-boost function that adds another 59 kW for bursts of four seconds, Opel claims a 0-100 km/h run in just 2.0 seconds. Yup - a Corsa that’s quicker than almost anything short of a Formula car.

“This car shows what’s possible on a small-car platform, while offering a clear view of Opel’s future,” said CEO Florian Huettl. “For the first time, enthusiasts everywhere can experience an Opel concept first-hand, inside Gran Turismo.”

While Vision GT projects often live only in pixels, Opel has gone full-metal (and carbon) by building a physical show car. It will star at IAA Mobility 2025 before heading to the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin later in September, tying Opel’s racing past with its gaming-led future. As Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo, put it: “We love seeing Vision GT cars made real, and Opel’s take will resonate with fans worldwide.”

Visually, the Corsa GSE Vision GT is Opel’s design language turned up to 11. Lower and wider than a road-going Corsa, its stance screams intent. At the nose sits a razor-thin execution of the next-gen Opel Vizor, flanked by illuminated elements forming the Opel Compass motif, with the Blitz logo glowing at dead centre. The look continues to the tail with a minimalist, illuminated compass signature light bar and bold “OPEL” lettering. Clever aero details keep the car planted thanks to an active aero diffuser and spoiler that adjust downforce in real time, aero curtains and blade-style fender flares channelling airflow, and aero wheels that smooth turbulence. Colour blocking makes it pop: pearl white bodywork, bold yellow aero accents, black roof and flares, plus staggered 21-inch and 22-inch rims colour-matched to their tyres. Opel calls the interior “detoxified racing.” There’s no screen overload here, just a heads-up display, a stripped race wheel, and illuminated fabric panels that warn of cars in blind spots. A suspended lightweight racing seat with a 6-point harness locks the driver in, with safety aided by a competition-spec roll cage. It’s pure Gran Turismo minimalism, brought into real life.

This isn’t Opel’s first rodeo in the world of wild concepts. Back in 1965, Opel shocked audiences with the Experimental GT, the first European concept car. Sixty years later, the Corsa GSE Vision GT channels that spirit, only now it doesn’t just sit under show lights. It’s drivable, whether you’re in Berlin, Munich, or sitting on your couch with a DualSense controller. Opel proves the Corsa can go from tame hatchback to hyper-hatch monster, while GSE stakes its claim as the lightning bolt of Opel’s electrified future. Small car, huge numbers. Digital fantasy, physical reality. Opel just made the Corsa cool again.
