THE GENESIS GV60 MOUNTAIN INTERVENTION VEHICLE CONCEPT IS AS BAD-ASS AS IT LOOKS.
Genesis, the luxury arm of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company, was officially established as an independent brand in November 2015. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, Genesis was born out of Hyundai's ambition to compete with the world's most prestigious automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus. While the brand itself is relatively young, its roots trace back to the Hyundai Genesis sedan introduced in 2008, a car that laid the foundation for the marque's focus on combining cutting-edge technology, sophisticated design, and premium craftsmanship. Since its inception, Genesis has rolled out an impressive lineup of vehicles that have quickly gained recognition. The Genesis G90, the brand’s flagship sedan is a great example of Korean luxury and refinement, good enough to rival the likes of the Mercedes S-Class. The G80 offers a perfect balance of luxury and performance, while the G70, the compact luxury sedan offering, has won many fans with its sporty handling and great styling. On the SUV front, the GV80 has made waves with its bold design and tech-packed interior, cementing Genesis as a serious player in the luxury SUV market. With a growing lineup of EVs, like the futuristic GV60, Genesis is carving out a reputation as a forward-thinking luxury brand that's redefining what premium means in the modern era. With the GV60, the Korean automaker has just introduced an amazing concept version that was built to help tackle rescues in remote locations, and it definitely looks like it will be a useful rescue tool, as well as being awesome to look at.
The Genesis GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle (MIV) Concept was recently revealed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, highlighting the brand’s technological innovation and exceptional design. The concept has attracted considerable interest at the AMERON Davos Swiss Mountain Resort, near the WEF venue, which has been on display since the 3rd week of January marking the 3rd consecutive year that Genesis has showcased a concept model at Davos. In previous years they showcased the the Genesis X Concept (2023) and the Genesis X Show Speedium Concept (2024). This year’s GV60 MIV Concept is designed for rescue support tasks in rugged terrains and challenging weather conditions, prioritizing occupant safety and mission functionality, and the results of the changes to the original GV60 are far from subtle. The purpose-built vehicle, inspired by small unit support vehicles, is an electric vehicle designed for exceptional off-road performance - a more than necessary feature for a rescue vehicle. The silent operation is quiet, minimizing environmental impact and it won’t scare any wildlife. It also features a vehicle-to-load system that allows it to supply power to auxiliary devices. The GV60 MIV Concept comes with snow tracks, sports seats, medical supplies and emergency communication and warning systems that support mountain rescue operations in extreme conditions. Large carbon fibre fender flares ensure the safety of bystanders and occupants while protecting the vehicle from damage. To maximize storage, a custom heavy-duty roof rack has been installed, while the rear hatch rack features modular attachment points for various equipment. “Genesis prides itself on creating safe, well-designed luxury vehicles that are audacious, progressive and distinctly Korean,” said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke. “The GV60 MIV Concept expands this vision of comfort and care.”
