THE NEW '67' CAR REGISTRATION NUMBER PLATES BANNED BY THE DVLA!
The DVLA has banned the use of UK number plates they deemed too silly, rude or offensive!
The emergence of the new '67' number plate presents a range of possibilities for rude or offensive words to the creative motorist. As a result, the DVLA banned a raft of combinations before they even see the light of day.
The full list of banned number plates has been given to Auto Express by the DVLA. Obvious examples include "DO67 GER", "BA67 ARD", "OR67 ASM" AND "DO67 SHT".
Twice a year, the DVLA censors meet to decide which number plates should be banned as a result of their explicit nature or potentially offensive political, racial or religious meanings.
The release of each new plate sequence brings new possibilities to offend the public, and the full list of banned plates with the new September 2017 '67' combination stretches to 10 PAGES LONG!
A spokesman said, "There's nothing scientific about it. It's all done by taste, and if some slip through the net and we get a complaint, we take the feedback on board."
Never have any previously banned number plates been removed from the DVLA's banned list, so usual suspects like "VA61 INA" and "CR16 PLE" are still banned from use. The DVLA also has the power to force drivers to hand back potentially offensive number plates if one has slipped through the net.
The list doesn't only include number plates deemed rude by the DVLA. Anything that can be seen as racist, religiously offensive or even drug related is unavailable. These include examples like "JE55 US", "15 LAM", "OS55 AMA" and even "AD13 CTS".
Combinations of numbers with a political angle have been chucked out too. For example. "EU16 OUT", "EU16 GONE" as well as anything ending with BNP.
Even buyers splashing out on personalized registration plates won't get away with rude plates. The DVLA's powers stretch to what can – and can't – be used on these, too.
Have a chuckle at the video below for a list of previously banned plates.
