THE NEW BMW M4 CS BLITZED THE 'RING - HERE'S THE AWESOME ONBOARD FOOTAGE.
The all-new BMW M4 CS makes use of the company’s tried and tested twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder powerplant. In this case, the powerplant has been tuned to produce a brilliant 405 kW with 605 Nm of torque, which is a healthy 15 kW power upgrade. The maximum boost pressure of the twin mono-scroll turbochargers is up to a high 2.1 bar with some model-specific tweaks to the engine management. Excellent engine response is helped by a model-specific engine mounting with increased spring rates with a rigid connection between the power unit and the vehicle’s structure enabling a more direct transmission of its power to the drivetrain. The BMW M4 CS uses an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system that affords the car handling that lives up to the reputation of all things M. The whole package is properly quick, with the right driver at the wheel and the right drive mode engaged, the M4 CS is able to get from a standstill to the worldwide benchmark for performance of 100 km/h in as little as 3.4 seconds. The car is also capable of getting to 200 km/h in a mere 11.1 seconds, which is properly quick. In-gear acceleration, which is important for track cars, is also massively quick. The M4 CS can sprint from 80 km/h to 120 km/h in just 2.6 seconds in 4th gear, and an equally impressive 3.3 seconds in 5th gear. If the M Driver’s Package is optioned, the top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h. The 8-speed M Steptronic dual-clutch transmission, M xDrive and active M differential all work together to afford the new BMW M4 CS some of the best handling available on the market today. With everything working in unison, the all-new limited-edition BMW M4 CS has recorded a brilliant official and notarised lap time of the famed Nurburgring in a time of an amazingly quick 7 min. 21.989 sec. for the full 20.832-kilometre lap. As you’d expect, the package comes at a cost here in SA. We’ve been told there may be as many as 35 units allocated to the SA, and if you want one, be prepared to shell out a little over R3,000,000.
