TIM COOK CONFIRMS APPLE'S AUTONOMOUS SYSTEM...

Apple chief executive, Tim Cook, has confirmed that the technology company is working on autonomous systems and hinted that they could extend beyond use in vehicles. Cook mentioned that the company is investing heavily in the development of autonomous systems during a call report by The Verge, which backed-up previous rumours that Apple was doing just that.

“Autonomous systems can be used in a variety of ways. A vehicle is only one, but there are many different areas of it. And I don’t want to go any further with that,” Cook said.

Although there is no one on the outside of Apple that knows exactly how progressed the company's autonomous project is or what it could be used for, it is widely speculated that Apple may offer an autonomous driving system to car manufacturers. Beyond that, Apple is also considering using the technology throughout the supply and manufacturing chain of things like autonomous robots, warehouse assistants and delivery service.
