TRAVELLING THE WORLD IN A JEEP WRANGLER
What do you do on your second date? Decide to travel around the world in a Jeep Wrangler. Obviously...
This young New Zealand couple decided to take their relationship to a whole new level on their second date when they decided to travel the world in a Jeep Wrangler.
Three months later, Kiwi's Bridget Thackwray and Topher Richwhite were on their way from Deadhorse in Alaska, the northernmost point of the western hemisphere accessible by road. Their wheels of choice is a Jeep Wrangler affectionately nicknamed Gunther.
Over the past two years, they've travelled down the Rockies of Canada, through America and into South America for their first leg. They then crossed into South Africa, squeezing in a visit to Antarctica, before heading up the east coast of the continent.
Hugo Griffiths from Auto Express joined the couple for two days in Iceland, before the end of their second leg, to get a small taste of their adventure and to find out what drove their decision to embark on this epic journey.
In Early 2020, the third chapter of their trip will see them travel through "Russia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, China and Tibet, before heading through South East Asia and returning home to New Zealand via Australia."
Their travels have taken them to dangerous and exotic locations, with Gunther the Jeep clocking over 140 000 trouble-free kilometres so far. To find out more, Join Hugo in the video below as he gets face-to-face with these down-to-earth explorers.
