VIDEO: A CAR GETTING HIT BY A LIGHTNING BOLT WILL MAKE YOUR JAW DROP.

Lightning is nothing to mess around with, which is why parks and pools close up shop the second there’s even a hint of bad weather. Your odds of being struck are incredibly small at one in 280,000, but if you’re that one, it could easily kill you. It’s safest to be inside or in a car, but that doesn’t mean the place where you’re taking shelter can’t be hit.

This white SUV traveling through an intersection in Australia is about to find out exactly what it’s like to be hit by a bolt of lightning. It’s a cloudy day, but it’s not raining buckets and there aren’t constant flashes of lightning in the sky. It’s your proof that lightning can strike anywhere and anytime.

As the car starts moving, it takes a direct hit from a bolt of lightning. The whole thing is caught by the dash cam of a car sitting waiting to cross at the same intersection.

The strike sends debris shooting off into the air in a shower of sparks as the SUV coasts for a few more feet before coming to stop not far from where it took the direct hit. Imagine being the guy behind the wheel. He’s got a really good excuse for being late.
