VIDEO: FIRST LOOK: THE ACURA ARX-05 RACE CAR
Acura has announced that it will tackle the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship with its new and aggressive-looking Acura ARX-05 race car. Acura has unveiled the car that Penske hopes is made out of 100 percent pure domination-annum, the ARX-05.
The Acura will mark its competition debut sometime in January for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. It has been confirmed that the two drivers – Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron – will drive one of the two Acura Daytona Prototypes for Team Penske. Montoya is known for winning the Indy 500 twice, an IndyCar Championship, the 24 hours of Daytona, and the Monaco Grand Prix.
Montoya is also helping to design the 2018 IndyCar aero kit for the next season. Cameron has won 12 career sports car wins across Grand-Am, American Le Mans, and the WeatherTech Sports Car Championship.
Under the hood of the new Acura ARX-05, the race car has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 similar to any of the V6s you’d find powering the TLX, RLX, MD, and NSX.
