VIDEO: MCLAREN SPECIAL OPERATIONS MSO X – A RACING-INSPIRED LIMITED EDITION
McLaren Special Operations unveils the 570S GT4 – a racing-Inspired limited edition
McLaren's largest U.S. dealer, Southern California's McLaren Newport Beach, has commissioned the McLaren Special Operations division to create a 10-car bespoke project for them.
The cars, dubbed MSO X, have been developed to resemble McLaren's 570S GT4 race car as closely as possible while remaining street-legal, and they proudly sport 90s styled liveries motivated by that era's infamous McLaren F1 GTR racers.
Each vehicle dons a satin-finished carbon fibre roof, bonnet, side skirts, and engine cover. The new bonnet carries specially constructed air intakes that work in conjunction with a superb "goose-neck" carbon-fibre roof snorkel and a pylon-mounted rear wing that provides nearly 220 pounds of extra downforce by itself.
There are new front dive planes, an MSO Titanium Super Sports Exhaust, and they ride on Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres.
Hop into one of the two racing bucket seats, strap in with a six-point harness and feast your eyes on the stripped out, track-orientated cabin that exposes the carbon-fibre Monocell 2 chassis. There's not much else besides air conditioning, rearview camera, and a fire extinguisher.
There's no info regarding the powerplant but we suspect it's got the 570S GT4's unit hiding in there.
All 10 McLaren MSO X cars have found homes after being delivered to their new owners at a special event in Las Vegas, and there's no info on how much they cost so, if you're lucky enough to actually see one, then we suspect it's probably best not touch.
