CAN THE MCLAREN 720S TAKE A P1 AND A PORSCHE 918 SPYDER?

The Mclaren 720S is a spectacular vehicle, but is it faster than its P1 sibling and a Porsche 918 Spyder? Let's find out.

Unless you subscribe to MotorTrend, you've likely not seen much of their content. Which is why this video is so good, they've given us access to this one episode of Ignition on their YouTube channel, and it's easy to see why they have so many fans.

The premise to this insert is to see whether the McLaren 720S is faster than their own hypercar, the P1, and their German rival, the Porsche 918 Spyder. Not only on the road but around their home-track, the Willow Springs Raceway.

The 720S is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 711hp and 568 lb-ft of torque and has a 7-speed twin-clutch auto sending power to the rear wheels. It has a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and roof, plenty of new aero and an active rear spoiler that acts as a wind-brake too.

This supercar is so well balanced and beautifully crafted, but does it have what it takes to take on the far more expensive hybrid hypercars?

As Ignition's Jethro Bovingdon says, "Simply put, this McLaren is a game-changer. Where the hell do we go from here?"
