VIDEO: THE MODERN VERSION OF THE BANDIT'S TRANS AM IS SMOKIN' AND PRODUCES 840HP!

Pontiac may have stopped manufacturing the Trans Am, but Trans Am Depot purchased the license to use the name and logo to brand their custom-built Chevrolet Camaros. Their latest is the Trans Am SE Bandit Edition, a reboot of the iconic 1976 Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit.

The Bandit himself, Burt Reynolds, has signed all 77 of the limited edition cars, which debuted at the New York International Auto Show on Friday. It truly does look like a modernized version of the original.

"The Shaker hood and T-tops were a must. If you don't have the T-tops, you don't have a Trans Am," said Scott Warmack, co-founder of the Trans Am Depot. The white-letter tires and snowflake wheels complete the retro effect.

The Bandit Edition comes with a whopping 840 horsepower (about 650 more than the original). That should be just enough to help the Bandit escape those pesky cops.
