WHAT CAUSED PORSCHE'S BEST FIRST HALF YEAR EVER?

Porsche has exceeded their previous record in sales by seven percent overall, with a whopping 126 497 units delivered worldwide up to the end of June 2017 – making this their best half-year ever.

The Macan remains top-of-class by driving this growth as the highest-volume model globally. The popular compact crossover cracked double-digits in growth percentage in the first six months of this year, with deliveries up 11% to pass the 50 000 mark.

Not to be outdone though, the new Panamerafour-door sports car sales rose by an incredible 54%, achieving the strongest percentage increase for the same period. Executive board member, Detlev von Platen, who is part of the team responsible for sales and marketing said these impressive figures prove that the new Panamera has made quite an impact around the world.

"The enthusiastic response from customers has been overwhelming. The plug-in hybrid versions and the new Sports Turismo version of the Panamera will provide us with even more momentum," says Von Platen.

With 35 601 vehicles delivered around the globe, demand for the 718 Cayman and Boxster models as well as the Cayenne – the brand's second most popular line – has also seen a rise in popularity.

In sunny South Africa, Naamsa sales figures show that Porsche sold 645 units from the beginning of January to the end of June 2017 to the local market, with the Cayenne proving to be the most popular, selling 224 units alone and the Macan running second, with an impressive 127 units for the same period.

And who said the global economy is in freefall! Well done Porsche!
