WHERE DID HYPERCARS ORIGINATE?

Where did the hypercar originate from and what makes it so special?

A modern-day hypercar is the most extreme of all road-legal cars, featuring some of the world's most high tech automotive technologies, not to mention limit-exceeding power.

But where did it all begin? A lot of people believe the first hypercar was the legendary McLaren F1, which was introduced in 1993 as the first hypercar. Others believe the 2005 Bugatti Veyron was the first hypercar. Regardless of which one will take the title, both cars were by-products of years of research and development trickled down from some form of motorsport.

When speaking specifically about hypercars, however, their origins lie deep in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Motor manufacturers are constantly and consistently trying to push the boundaries of what is possible in the automotive industry. And from time-to-time a "trophy" car is produced as a road-legal version of the 24 Hours of Le Mans official racing car.
