WHY DO SCHOOL BUSSES HAVE THREE STRIPES ON THEM?
Have you ever thought to yourself, why do traditional yellow school busses have three distinct black stripes on them? Here is why.
School busses are a part of many people's lives, from childhood right through to parenthood. But they are now becoming collector's items, and are even popular with those who enjoy converting them into recreational vehicles.
But, not in your wildest dreams would you have guessed what the purpose of those three distinctive black stripes are that run across either side of the school bus.
Well, as it stands, they serve a very important purpose. The top stripe signifies where the top of the backrest of the chairs end at their highest point, the middle line shows where the seat line is, and lastly, the bottom black stripe shows where the interior floor line is.
These are used in the event that the school bus is in an accident, and the emergency service on the scene knows exactly where to cut through the bus frame in order to create a safe exit for the passengers.
