WILL PUTTING A COROLLA ENGINE IN A YARIS MAKE IT FASTER?
The guys at Mighty Car Mods wanted to see if they could make their Toyota Yaris faster for cheap by installing a Corolla engine... did they succeed? Let's find out.
So, Marty and Moog from Mighty Car Mods have a small, slow Toyota affectionately called Yaris Hilton. They've done a couple of videos with the car before, like seeing if a professional driver is faster than them around a track, and whether simply changing the stock tyres for better ones will reduce lap times.
But, they've always complained that the little 1.3-litre engine under the bonnet was too slow. This sparked the idea of whether one could make the car faster by spending as little money as possible. Instead of choosing to turbo-charge the nippy city-slicker, they decided to try something different and swap the engine out completely.
For five hundred Auzzie dollars, they got their hands on a half-chopped Toyota Corolla with a 1.8-litre motor, and set about seeing if they can get it to fit.
It may seem like a strange project to take on but, as the boys say, many of us can't afford sports cars, let alone modify them, so this is a terrific way for newbies to get themselves into the car modification game for cheap.
Besides, not only will your journey teach you new things, but it also means spending quality time with like-minded friends, and who doesn't want to do that?
