YOU KNOW THAT AWESOME NEW 600+ KW FORD MUSTANG GTD? WELL JAY LENO ADDS NO.12 TO HIS COLLECTION.

“Mustang GTD shatters every preconceived notion of a supercar. This is a new approach for us. We didn’t engineer a road car for the track; we created a race car for the road. Mustang GTD takes racing technology from our Mustang GT3 race car, wraps it in a carbon fibre Mustang body and unleashes it for the street,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.  As you would have noticed when we mentioned some features, everything is made from lightweight materials to keep the weight as low as possible and get as close as possible to a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, which it does. A typical racecar formula. Much attention was paid to improving the aero, which is why the GTD looks so fantastical with all those angled carbon fibre panels, scoops and intakes when you park it alongside a regular Mustang. The 5.2-litre supercharged V8 also has some race-spec tweaks like dual air inlets and a dry sump oil system, a first for a road-legal Ford. The cockpit is as expected, race-inspired. There’s carbon fibre and Miko suede and leather making it all quite premium, and having the 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters, rotary dial shifter and serial plate created from retired Lockheed Martin F-22 titanium parts is pretty rad. The only thing the GTD needs that could have been included, even as an option, is a factory-fitted rear roll cage. The Ford Mustang GTD also recently cemented its place among the motoring elite. In a historic moment for American performance cars, the Mustang GTD blazed through the 12.9-mile, 73-turn circuit known as The Green Hell in an amazingly fast time of 6:57.685, becoming the first car from an American brand to break the seven-minute barrier. This feat places the GTD as the 5th-fastest production sports car on the Nürburgring's official leaderboard and only the 6th production car ever to achieve a time under that elusive 7-second benchmark.

Many high-profile celebs ordered a GTD, and one of the highest of those profiles is none other than famed car collector and TV personality, Jay Leno. This was pretty much expected. Mr Leno recently took delivery of his 2025 Mustang GTD, car number 12 in the production run worldwide, and because it was destined for one of the coolest collections on the planet, it was personally delivered by none other than Ford CEO Jim Farley. Jim Farley is not only at the top of the Ford management charts, he’s also a true-blue car guy. He took the time to discuss the intricate engineering behind the GTD. He reveals the audacity to directly challenge European exotics like Porsche and Aston Martin, and how the GTD was developed to win at Le Mans with a sub-7-minute Nürburgring time – a feat only four cars have achieved, and the first American car ever. In this rad vid, you’ll learn about the GTD's performance package that features an innovative Drag Reduction System (DRS) that affords the car over 900 kg of downforce. This is such a new and innovative technology that it’s not permitted in IMSA or Le Mans racing - it doesn’t quite break the rules, but there’s also no way it can conform to existing rules. J & J also explore the car's radical construction, including extensive carbon fibre components and a chassis so rigid it's tantamount to a full-on race car, for the road. Just in case you forgot, under the hood is a sublime 5.2-litre Predator engine that leaves the factory with a healthy-sized supercharger that gives the GTD an impressive power output of 608 kW and 900 Nm of torque, and it has some fancy tweaks, like dual air inlets and a dry sump oil system, a first for a road-legal Ford.
