ANIMATED STARS LADYBUG AND CAT NOIR NOW DRIVEN BY VOLKSWAGEN IN E-MOBILITY DEAL

The digital age combined with the automotive industry’s focus on electric vehicles has given automakers and movie producers a whole new platform to advertise on and get involved with. The latest collab comes from Volkswagen who has just announced a partnership with the upcoming Netflix release; Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie. Miraculous became a global family pop culture phenomenon in more than 130 countries over the last couple of years as a dedicated series, the phenomenon reached more than 33 billion (with a B, BILLIONS!) views on YouTube along with the coveted number one spot in TV-rankings in a bunch of countries around the world. The upcoming movie based on the series will be launched in theatres worldwide from July 5th, 2023, and will follow on Netflix’s streaming platform from July 28th 2023. This means that “Miracolous: Ladybug & Cat Noir – The Movie” will be played in over 100 markets around the globe. Volkswagen, ZAG and Mediawan Kids & Family, the two co-producers have just signed an exclusive partnership that will see animated Volkswagen models feature alongside the animated characters to give the brand and its electric range of cars a new and young worldwide audience, which is akin to an absolutely amazing advertising campaign.

Volkswagen Chief Marketing Officer Nelly Kennedy said: “E-mobility is cool, and it is exciting. This is a perfect match with the characters and the story. We are thrilled that the movie’s beloved characters will experience their adventures with different fully electric cars of our Volkswagen ID. family.” In this movie, we’ll see electric vehicles integrated into the storyline, but to make it more legit, the Volkswagen ID range of cars has been redesigned to fit the movie’s look and feel. Two of the city cars with a futuristic look will be driven by the stars; Cat Noir will be seen in the new Volkswagen ID.4, and Ladybug - will have a concept car electric Beetle. The luxury ID. Vizzon will be associated with the successful stylist character Gabriel Agreste, and the Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be Tom the baker’s environmentally-friendly delivery vehicle. The current collab is an important element of the realignment of the brand and marketing activities and the latest in several similar partnerships. Volkswagen has successfully launched other joint projects in recent months with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania”, and the Disney+ limited Star Wars series Obi-Wan-Kenobi, Andor and Mandalorian. "From the very beginning of the incredible adventure of the film, the collaboration with Volkswagen appeared to us as a natural fit. Our two brands have many values in common. Transmitting the values of a better world is also our responsibility as producers," stated Aton Soumache and Emmanuel Jacomet, producers of the film. "With my creative team, I had a lot of fun adapting the iconic vehicles of the Volkswagen brand to the world of Miraculous and to integrate them seamlessly into the film and the Parisian settings. Ladybug and Cat Noir represent the new generation, and the vehicles in the film embody that modernity. For me, it is crucial to convey an essential message: taking care of our environment to live in a better world tomorrow," adds Jérémy Zag, director of the movie. We’re keen to see how many youngsters will start investigating EV ownership after seeing the movie. We imagine there to be many, which is the point of the whole collaboration.
