BMW M SET TO DESCEND ON GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED
All eyes will be on BMW M GmbH at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed thanks to the celebration of 50 years of ///M. While many will be attending to see all the BMW M models we already know and lust after, the automaker has added in a bonus unveiling of a pair of very special models. We see the UK premiere of the all-new and absolutely amazing BMW M4 CSL, as well as a new M3 Touring this is amazing news, especially since the many SUVs around have all but eliminated wagons from the motoring world. Both cars will take to the hill throughout the world-famous event. Attendees will not be able to miss anything M-related as there will be a special central feature sculpture on the Goodwood House lawns, designed as a homage to 50 years of M and the display will feature many BMW M models.
On the same day, BMW Group Classic will have some iconic BMW racecars hitting the hill. Pedro Piquet, son of 3-time F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet, will drive the 1983 Brabham BMW BT52, Steve Soper will campaign the BMW V12 LMR, HRH Leopold Prince of Bavaria will drive the sharknose BMW 635CSi and Bruno Spengler will drive his famous BMW Z4 GTR which features the Michel Vaillant Design from the 2015 Spa-Francorchamps 24h race.
Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M, said: “There can be no better place to celebrate our 50th anniversary than among our fans at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, surrounded by the iconic cars that have cemented our position in motorsport history. But we’ll also spend our time at the world-famous event looking to the future, with a selection of exciting new models from our innovative electrified line-up, and the global premiere of the eagerly-anticipated first-ever BMW M3 Touring.”
