THE POLESTAR 2 BST EDITION 270 - A DYNAMIC DRIVER-FOCUSED EV
Polestar, which is the electric vehicle side of Swedish automaker Volvo that has evolved into a brand of its own, and the company is set to expand its tuning-based Polestar Engineered product offerings. There’s no better way to do this than to put together a technology-packed version of the Polestar 2, which has been dubbed the Polestar 2 BST edition 270. This new version leverages decades of tuning experience from the internal combustion-engined cars to present the world with the most dynamic electric driver’s car yet. The Polestar 2 BST edition 270 will be a limited production run to be released in select markets, and as that name suggests, the tally will end at 270 units. “We had a great reaction to the specially modified Polestar 2 we showed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021 and the response made it clear – we should create a version like that for production,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
To distinguish this 270-unit limited edition of the Polestar 2, we find that the dual electric motors and the decently-sized 78 kWh battery have been tinkered with to give the BST a very healthy power output of 350 kW (476 hp) with a typically high electric vehicle torque figure up at 680 Nm. To improve on how the car feels when you chuck it around in a spirited manner, the centre of gravity has been enhanced thanks to a 25mm reduction in the ride height. To make sure the cornering performance is up to spec, a specially developed, unique Öhlins 2-way adjustable damper set with auxiliary adjustment chambers is found mounted under the bonnet along with a front strut bar, 20% stiffer springs and some very, very cool 21-inch alloys in a 21-inch size - inspired by Polestar 1.
This great-looking Polestar 2 BST edition 270 can be had in two colours; Thunder or Snow, and both are only available with a Charcoal WeaveTech interior, which is not a bad thing at all. Aesthetics have been attended to with fully-painted bumpers and side skirts and gloss black side mirrors. The company's signature ‘Swedish Gold’ details remain, including on the brake calipers, damper elements, valve caps and seatbelts. Buyers can option the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 with a matte black strip across the length of the car, as well as a very cool, full-body Battleship Gray satin wrap.
