GETTING TO KNOW ALPINA BMW'S
Alpina is to BMW like cheese is to pizza. But do you know how this came to be? Well, fortunately, we're here to help you out.
The decision by Alpina, way back in 1963, to stop making typewriters and start fiddling with BMW's would change the world of modified German saloons.
In fact, they did such a fabulous job that, eventually, the German government decided to give Alpina the title of 'auto manufacturer', allowing factory BMW's to be issued new VIN numbers for each car they worked on.
Any BMW fan lusts after these vehicles, but why is that? Well, they turned racing cars into championship winners and road cars into luxury drives that'll outpace almost all of their competition.
How did they do it? Best you press play on the video below and Join James as he gets Up To Speed with the legend of Alpina.
