LAFERRARI SPIDER: IT'S FINALLY ARRIVED!
Everybody suspected a LaFerrari Spider was on the horizon, and now Ferrari has released the first press photos of the beast, and she’s absolutely stunning.
Set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the new “limited-edition special series” is basically just a standard LaFerrari with a removable carbon fiber hardtop or canvas soft top.
That means it’s still got a 789 horsepower V12 joining forces with a 161 horsepower electric motor, and will still rocket to 60 mph in about 2.5 seconds.
Of course, the engineers in Maranello didn’t just cut the roof off and call it a day. Ferrari said in their press release that engineers had to tweak aerodynamics to keep the drag coefficient down when the top is off, and they had to make “significant and extensive modifications... to the chassis with the aim of retaining the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness as the coupé version.”
That’s probably a good thing, because 949 horsepower routed through a limp-noodle chassis probably wouldn’t work out so hot.
