RANGE ROVER SPORT SV BLACK: THE STEALTH BOMBER OF LUXURY SUVS
Range Rover’s already menacing Sport SV has just embraced its dark side - hard. Meet the Range Rover Sport SV Black, an unapologetically bold, all-black performance SUV that looks like it was dipped in midnight. Designed for those who think subtlety is overrated, this sinister special edition pushes the stealthy aesthetic to its absolute limit, draping every visible surface - including the badges - in gloss black. Set to hit the streets in late 2025, the SV Black builds on the Range Rover Sport SV’s status as the marque’s ultimate luxury performance SUV. It’s been reworked to deliver a more aggressive and purposeful look, pairing brute force with designer-tailored finesse. And for the first time ever, even the iconic Range Rover SV roundel and grille badging go full blackout - a clear sign this isn’t just another ‘black pack’ trim option.
Martin Limpert, Global MD at Range Rover, sums it up best: “Range Rover Sport SV Black represents the essence of sporting luxury; a statement of audacious rebellion. We’ve created a vehicle that combines pure power and performance with a gritty, uncompromising attitude that demands attention. Range Rover’s design team has gone beyond anything we’ve offered previously with black packs or options, giving every single exterior and interior element a sophisticated Narvik black treatment; it appears to the eye, as if the vehicle has been dipped in gloss. We extend this attention to detail to new finishes for the first time on Range Rover, truly showcasing our craftsmanship.”
From the outside, it’s pure attitude. The Narvik Black paint wraps around every panel, including the carbon fibre bonnet, forming a monolithic presence on the road. Even the 23-inch forged alloy wheels are gloss black, as are the brake calipers and quad exhaust tips. It’s like a luxury muscle car put on a tuxedo made of obsidian.
The black magic doesn’t stop at the exterior. Inside, the theme continues with dark, tactile materials and high-spec detailing. Think sculpted performance seats trimmed in Ebony Windsor leather, new SV Black illuminated treadplates, and gloss Grand Black finishers across the cabin. It’s plush, powerful, and deliberately moody. But this isn’t just a style job - the SV Black still delivers monstrous performance. Under the bonnet lives the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8, dishing out a ballistic 467kW and 750Nm. That’s good for a 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h, making it the fastest Range Rover Sport ever made. Backing all that power is Range Rover’s cutting-edge chassis tech, including the revolutionary 6D Dynamics suspension system, which actively controls pitch and roll without relying on traditional anti-roll bars. It also comes with ‘Body and Soul Seats’ - a wellness-focused audio system that vibrates in time with the music and supposedly chills you out while you blast through corners. For those who don't fancy the full blackout look, Range Rover will also be offering a globally available SV variant with the same 467kW engine and trick suspension, topping out at 266km/h. The Range Rover Sport SV Black will make its public debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed from 10 to 13 July. Orders open towards the end of 2025, with pricing starting from R3,671,500.
If Darth Vader ordered an SUV, this would be it.
