RARE ASTON MARTIN V12 SPEEDSTER POPS UP AT GOODWOOD REVIVAL AUCTION.
For those with a penchant for the truly extraordinary, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster is not just a car - it's a statement, a visceral expression of power and exclusivity that works everywhere except in adverse weather. With only 88 units created, and just 12 of those available in right-hand drive, this V12 Speedster isn’t just rare, it’s a hypercar unicorn. Finished in the iconic 1950s Racing Green, a homage to Aston Martin's storied racing heritage, this example is nothing short of automotive art. With just two previous owners and a barely-touched odometer reading circa 525 km, this Speedster is as close to brand-new as one could hope for. That’s barely even a full tank of fuel that’s been used. Under that elongated bonnet lies Aston Martin’s iconic and much-loved twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12, a British powerhouse churning out an impressive 515 kW and 752 Nm of torque. Paired with the popular ZF 8-speed automatic transmission that channels all that grunt to the rear wheels, the Speedster chucks out a rather intoxicating blend of speed and agility - not that we’ll ever see someone throwing one of these around on any kind of track, anywhere. The lightweight aluminium chassis, shared with the DBS Superleggera, is designed to cradle the V12 engine, while carbon ceramic brakes and adaptive suspension dampers ensure the Speedster delivers not just raw power, but precision handling.
The V12 Speedster draws inspiration from Aston Martin’s illustrious racing history, specifically the DBR1, which claimed victory at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. But it doesn’t stop there—the Speedster also nods to the CC100 concept, unveiled at the 2013 Nürburgring 24 Hours, melding the past and the future into a seamless, breathtaking package. Top Gear once called it an “al fresco wealth carriage,” and they weren’t wrong. The V12 Speedster is more than a car; it’s an experience—an adrenaline-fueled ride that merges the raw excitement of a track car with the elegance of Aston Martin craftsmanship. With a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 3.5 seconds and a (limited) top speed of 300 km/h - this is a machine! This particular example, lovingly maintained and presented in a ‘like new’ condition, has had two services at Aston Martin dealerships, ensuring it’s ready for the next owner to show it off in a few social media posts before parking it in a hidden collection to gather dust. The car comes with a V5C document, a car cover, a battery charger, and a complete paintwork protection package, preserving its stunning finish. Those chaps at auction hoses that are assigned to place a value on these things have estimated that this rare Aston Martin could rake in between R16,000,000 and R21,000,000.
