ASTON MARTIN'S NEW DB12 IS NO MERE GT - ITS THE WORLD'S FIRST SUPER TOURER
The latest car from Aston Martin to wear the iconic DB badge is the all-new DB12, a Grand Tourer that’s so special and refined that the British automaker deems it good enough to bring in a new category of exclusive car - Super Tourer. This GT car is so good that it can’t be classified with the rest of the Tourer cars it seems, it's a level up. The Aston Martin’s DB12’s core values of high-performance and ultra-luxury spearhead Aston Martin’s next generation of cars heralding a new era that will see all Aston Martin models characterised by prodigious performance and pinpoint dynamics, seamless integration of advanced technologies and the sublime style and exemplary craftsmanship the company is famed for. Roberto Fedeli, Group Chief Technology Officer of Aston Martin said of the new DB12: “DB12 is a statement car. One that asserts Aston Martin’s position as a leader in performance, dynamics, engineering and technology. We have pushed every aspect of this car to be best-in-class. The result is more power and performance than its rivals. Combined with exceptional handling and an exciting soundtrack, it is a car with passion and a true sporting character. Crucially, thanks to its breadth of capability we have achieved this without compromising refinement, comfort and luxury. Together with our use of industry-leading dynamic control and infotainment systems, DB12 is the start of Aston Martin’s most exciting new era.”
There are a million and one things that make this new DB something very special, but we think it’s the powerplant and drivetrain in a car that makes it special, even if that motor setup happens to be fully electric. While the car is a DB12, the powerplant features four fewer cylinders than the name implies, but Aston Martin hasn’t used model names to signify engine size anyway. We just mention it because we’ve already seen the question asked on a few social media sites. The engine in play in the new DB12 is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, and in the state of tune the car is sold, it offers up some best-in-class power specs. There’s an 8-speed auto transmission in play and power is sent to the rear wheels only. Said power in the DB12 is a nice and healthy 495 kW of power with a powerful 800 Nm of torque, and this can propel the Super Tourer from a standstill to 100 km/h in a mere 3.6 seconds and can gallop on to a top speed of a fast 325 km/h. For the first time on an Aston Martin DB mode, we find the Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff) that’s linked to Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, and so unlike a conventional Limited Slip Differential, it can go from fully open to 100% locked in a matter of milliseconds, giving the driver maximum response for more precise and consistent handling. Added to a stiffer overall setup in the suspension and a stiffer chassis, the Aston Martin DB is a much more focused car. The reveal of the DB12 arrives as Aston Martin celebrates two significant milestones in 2023; Its 110th anniversary as well as 75 years of the DB. “When founders Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford officially formed the partnership that became Aston Martin, they ignited more than a century of automotive passion, cutting-edge British innovation, and high-octane racing success. It comes at a time when Aston Martin is enjoying one of the most dynamic periods in its 110-year history thanks to continued podium success in the 2023 Formula 1® season. Competing at the pinnacle of world motorsport remains a key pillar of the marque’s brand and product strategy.” says AM.

This thing is beast-like with a best-in-class power output of 500 kW and 800Nm from a well-set-up twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that's able to get this car up to a nice and fun top speed of 325 km/h, all while looking that a boss: Aston Martin DB12 | The World's First Super Tourer | Aston Martin
