RIMAC BUYS BUGATTI FROM VOLKSWAGEN

Say what? Rimac, a car company that started off as a one-man operation in his garage back in 2009, has now bought over the French hypercar brand, Bugatti, from Volkswagen.

Arguably the biggest news in the automotive industry this week is that Volkswagen has confirmed that Bugatti has been sold to the Croatian electric hypercar brand Rimac.

What puzzles a lot of people about this move is the fact that Volkswagen is also heavily invested in Rimac themselves, and even after the multi-million Euro deal, Volkswagen will still be a part-owner of Bugatti. However, Rimac is the main shareholder, and has even demonstrated this by giving Bugatti a new name: Bugatti Rimac.

What does this all mean? Well, we will most likely see an all-electric Bugatti in the near future. However, as it stands, Volkswagen will also benefit largely from the technology invested into this new hypercar brand amalgamation.
